| Cleaning and Maintenance |
| Most spills clean up with plain water and a soft cloth or sponge. Dried spills, syrup, or liquids with dyes (such as Kool Aid®, grape juice, etc.) should be soaked and may require a cleaning agent such as Softscrub® or Softscrub® with bleach. Attempting to "scrape" a dried spill may scratch or damage any solid surface countertop. Wipe dry to avoid water marks. |
| Scratches, Nicks, and Gouges |
| Although Surestone2000 is extremely resistant to normal wear, you should never cut directly on it. Always use a proper cutting board and never use a paper or Styrofoam plate as a cutting protector. Light scratches may easily be removed with a wet purple Scotch Brite® pad. Slightly deeper scratches may require a series of sandings, starting with a wet 220 grit sandpaper, followed by wet 320 grit and then a wet Scotch Brite pad. Be careful not to over sand or sand too little in an area causing a dip In the countertop. |
| Deeper cuts, nicks, or gouges may require professional reparations. These however are usually the result of improper use or abuse of the countertop. With proper care, your Surestone2000 countertop will last for many years to come.! Never cut directly or any solid surface, marble, granite or laminate top. |
| Note: A gloss surface (Optional) is not recommended for kitchen or bathroom use and will require the aid of a solid surface professional for regular maintenance. |
| Burns |
| Never place hot cooking utensils or materials on a solid surface top, directly form the stove or oven. Sudden dramatic temperature changes can severely damage ant solid surface material. Always use a trivet for placing hot materials from the oven or stove top or when using heated appliances such as crock pots, electric frying pans, griddles, etc. Minor burns such as cigarette burn can be removed using the same method for removing scratches. Cracks or scorching from improper use will require a Surestone2000 professional. |
